Since I began my journey into ancient feminine health practices, I wanted to be able to practice it regularly. At the time funds were just a bit tight, and going to a spa was just not in the budget. And you know how it is when you’re low on funds: you get creative! And now that I provide yoni steams, the number one question that I’m asked is, “how the heck do I use this thing?!” So I felt that it would be easier to provide some visuals to give you Queens an idea on how to utilize your space at home, and even create a sacred space for this ancient ritual.
One way of course, is simply buying a Yoni Steam chair or seat. Etsy is a great place to purchase some beautifully handmade chairs, but be prepared to spend a pretty penny. Prices can range from $50 to $300. More cost efficient options include portable folding toilets, sitz baths (which goes over the toilet), bucket toilet seats and bedside commodes. My go to is to simply utilize the toilet. Placing a mixing bowl inside of the commode is another easy way to get your steam in. I've seen where sisters have gotten really creative in how they perform their steams: placing a mixing bowl inside of an ottoman cube, even cutting a hole inside of a folding chair! Gotta appreciate the ingenuity!
There's also been some questioning about proper dressing while steaming. Spas will have the traditional gowns that are pretty much like a big skirt. These can also be purchased on Etsy. However if you don't have the money, no need to worry! Simply wrap yourself up in a large blanket. You want to keep the steam contained so that you receive all of the healing properties the herbs contain.
Natural health practices don't have to be complicated. When there's a will (and a little imagination), there's always a way. Take care!
